More Than Just Work: QUBE’s Epic Ski Trip in Austria
At Q, teamwork isn’t just something we do in the office—it extends far beyond. From Saturday, March 8, to Tuesday, March 11, 2025, thirteen colleagues embarked on an unforgettable winter trip to Flachau, Austria. A journey filled with sports, camaraderie, and unforgettable moments, proving once again that Q is so much more than just work.From Schiphol to Salzburg: An Early Start with a Challenge
Our journey began early on Saturday morning. At 5:00 AM, we gathered at Schiphol Airport for our flight to Salzburg. After a short and smooth flight, we landed at 8:35 AM, ready to take on the mountains. However, upon arrival, we faced an unexpected challenge—our oversized baggage, including ski equipment, hadn’t been loaded. No problem! With our signature Q mindset, we immediately found a solution: renting skis and snowboards to make sure we could still hit the slopes without delay.
Saturday Afternoon on the Mountain: Sun, Snow & Pure Enjoyment
By midday, we were already in the gondola, breathing in the fresh mountain air. While temperatures in the valley reached a summery 16°C, conditions higher up remained pleasant, between 5°C and 9°C. Due to the warm weather, some valley runs weren’t ideal, but nothing could beat the joy of relaxing on a sunny mountain terrace. Great company, breathtaking views, and a laid-back atmosphere—the perfect start to our adventure.
Sunday: Ski Miles & Culinary Delights
Thanks to quick action, our ski gear finally arrived in Flachau on Sunday morning. Most of us were up at 7:15 AM, full of energy, ready for breakfast and an early start on the slopes. The morning conditions were perfect, allowing us to cover some serious ski mileage before meeting up for a group lunch at 1:00 PM. "Kuhstall" restaurant proved to be the perfect spot—a long table in the sun, delicious food, and endless laughter. We carried that positive energy into the evening, reminiscing about the day over a fantastic dinner at our hotel.
Monday: Group Photo & Après-Ski Fun
Monday kicked off with a stunning group photo on the 8-er Jet plateau. The morning greeted us with sunshine, but by afternoon, the clouds rolled in. Some colleagues opted for a relaxing afternoon at the hotel, while others braved the changing conditions to squeeze in a few more runs. At 4:00 PM, we all reunited at the famous “Hofstadl” bar for some lively après-ski fun. We shared stories, reconnected with old and new friends, and even ran into a former colleague—what a way to wrap up the day!
Tuesday Morning: Perfect Slopes & a Farewell to the Mountains
Our final morning in Flachau was picture-perfect. With clear blue skies and freshly groomed, frozen slopes, conditions couldn’t have been better. Everyone made the most of their last few runs before heading back for a farewell lunch. Then, it was time to pack our bags, say goodbye to the mountains, and hop into a taxi to Salzburg. At 8:35 PM, our plane took off, and by 9:50 PM, we were back on Dutch soil—tired but beyond satisfied.
