This month we welcomed Mikey to the team

Mikey has started as a support consultant at QUBE. Time to get to know him better.

Hi Mikey. Welcome! Tell us something about yourself...
Let me tell you a bit more about myself. I was born in Colombia, raised, and currently living in Amsterdam. Our earth, like me, never stands still! I have now figuratively completed 30 trips around the sun and hope to experience many more trips on our beautiful planet.

How did you get into IT?
My interest in technology began at a young age. I took apart computers and modified video games. This passion led to various roles within IT, from QA tester to my current position as a support consultant at QUBE and training to become a cybersecurity specialist.

Why did you choose QUBE?
QUBE, the people, and their approach immediately spoke to my heart. After my first meeting with Albert (director) and Haris (colleague), initial conversations with Remko (manager), Arjan (board member), and the rest of the team, I was convinced. QUBE is the place where I can best develop myself into a star player in IT. What appealed to me is that QUBE needs people for the cybersecurity department, and I strive to develop into a cybersecurity specialist. A win-win situation if you ask me.

Your position is support consultant; what exactly will you be doing?
I will start by familiarizing myself with the various systems and methods we use in the support department. QUBE continues to innovate in the field of cybersecurity, and our knowledge in cybersecurity helps organizations advance.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work? In other words, what makes you happy?
In my free time, I like to work on my own passion project. I have created a fully 3D website, with some HTML elements functioning as the User Interface (UI). Although I am not an expert, I enjoy working with 3D assets, creating them myself, and contributing to the open-source project Blender. Another hobby of mine is ethical hacking: breaking into simulated machines on hackthebox.com. Gaining access to a simulated device or system really puts a smile on my face and gives me immense satisfaction.
